In 2017 ill health cost the UK economy more than £100 billion, through sick pay, loss of productivity, covering long term sick and recruitment costs. Most sickness is genuine where a people needs to take time to recover, however some sickness is not genuine. This Managing Attendance course in South Wales is designed for managers who want to manage attendance through innovative and progressive techniques. Many organisations in Wales deal with sickness after it happens, using return to work interviews and a general sickness policy, but there are also other effective approaches.
During this one-day course, we look at the process of managing attendance rather than controlling absence. This means being pro-active when managing sickness. The training is very interactive with discussion, scenarios and an action planning session.
By the end of the session, delegates will:
Understand the importance of managing attendance
Recognise the causes of model day absence
Clarify the role of a line manager in managing absence
Recognise the signs that may indicate intended absence
Introduction to absence management
What influence you have over staff and what impact this has
What are the causes of absence
What is your role in managing absence
How to identify the signs of impending absence
Staff motivation and reducing absence
Carrying out return to work interviews
By attending this Managing Attendance course, you will reduce costs by ensuring people are motivated to coming back to work and build the right processes to deal with persistent offenders.
